The Open Road Bookshop, Park Street, Stoke-by-Nayland, Suffolk, CO6 4SE
Summer Opening hours: Thursday - Sunday 10am - 4pm
The Open Road Bookshop was launched by my father and poet David Charleston in September 2011. Standing at the crossroads in Stoke - by – Nayland, Suffolk, it is a small second hand bookshop offering a range of carefully selected volumes, specialising in English and American Literature. There are also shelves on nature, travel, music, art and sport as well as biography and some miscellaneous non-fiction. Books by local authors are featured and there are regular art exhibitions.
Amelie and I celebrated the launch of our first publication Next-to-Nothing at The Open Road in 2011. Next-to-Nothing is a book of 9 letterpress poems by David Charleston, complete with 5 hand-printed black and white photographs. For more information please see www.shedpress.org
My artwork and hand-printed greeting cards are available to purchase from The Open Road. I have an annual solo exhibition at the bookshop too. The next one opens October 2015. (More details will be made available on my blog). The Cat Circus took a trip to the bookshop in September 2014 and quite a few cats stayed put.
